OGC’s Mike Dill Appointed to USDA’s Fruit and Vegetable Industry Advisory Committee

PORTLAND, Ore. – January 21, 2025Organically Grown Company’s (OGC) Director of Advocacy and Sustainability, Mike Dill, has been appointed to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Fruit and Vegetable Industry Advisory Committee (FVIAC). This prestigious role recognizes Dill’s deep expertise and leadership in advancing organic and regenerative agriculture. A two-year term places him at the forefront of conversations shaping the future of fruits and vegetables in the U.S.

Dill brings a wealth of experience to the FVIAC committee. At OGC, he’s led farm and facility food safety, compliance, sustainability and trade policy, earning a reputation for his thoughtful approach to solving complex challenges. Before joining OGC, he spent six years as a certification officer and inspector with Oregon Tilth, working directly with farmers and post-harvest handlers.

“It’s an absolute honor to represent the organic and Pacific Northwest fruit and vegetable industry on this advisory committee,” said Dill.  “Fruits and vegetables make up the largest sector of the organic industry and so many growers, packers and shippers are now operating in organic and non-organic markets – the days where you needed to choose one camp, or the other are thankfully behind us. I’m excited to share my experience that spans the entire supply chain with such a diverse group of stakeholders.”

In addition to his job at OGC, Dill holds key leadership positions across the organic movement. He serves as Chair of the Oregon Organic Coalition, Vice-Chair of the Organic Trade Association’s Produce Sector Council and Coordinator of the Organic Produce Wholesalers Coalition. He also sits on the boards of the Coalition for Organic and Regenerative Agriculture and the Organic Farming Research Foundation. Dill earned degrees in Food Science and Technology, Horticulture and Chemistry at Oregon State University.

The USDA Fruit and Vegetable Industry Advisory Committee was established in 2001 to provide strategic recommendations on critical issues impacting the U.S. produce sector. Comprising 25 representatives from across the industry, the committee advises the Secretary of Agriculture on key challenges and opportunities.
