Winter Sweet Kabocha

A lovely grey hybrid variety, organic Winter Sweet Kabocha boasts the same deep orange and super-sweet flesh with the characteristic flaky texture that makes Green or Red Kabocha powerhouses in the kitchen. Winter Sweet is a variety from Oregon State University that has been gaining attention over the past few years for its long-storage capability and phenomenal flavor. Requiring a several-months-long storage to convert starch to sugar, we’re grateful to our partners at Mustard Seed Farms for taking the time to grow and properly cure the fruits for us. Winter Sweet is easily one of the best squash we offer each season, and it’s at it’s best starting now and will last into January. Winter Sweet is not to be missed!

Sugar Dumpling Sweet Dumpling

Variegated skin and sugar-sweet flesh make this squat squash variety the ideal choice for shoppers looking for a pint-sized portion or the perfect squash to stuff! A variety new to Mustard Seed Farms this year, it’s been chosen for a trial planting both for its exceptional flavor and its potential as a long-storage solution! Always game to try something new, we’re looking forward to hearing from you how your customers like Sugar Dumpling and if demand could influence a larger planting for next season! Grab some this week, and don’t be shy about sharing your feedback with your Account Rep!

Starry Night Speckled Acorn

Acorn squash lovers will be pleased to find that this speckled variety eclipses its standard counterpart in flavor and texture. Super smooth flesh and with an intensely sweet taste, Starry Night is as delicious on the inside as it is attractive on the outside. A pixelated color pattern of yellow and orange dapples against dark green skin ensures Starry Night stands out in any winter squash display. Like Sugar Dumpling, Mustard Seed Farms offers Starry Night as a trial planting to gauge interest in increasing production next season. We think this long-storage variety will quickly become a tasty new favorite amongst shoppers and would love to hear that our hunch is correct!
